Erica Zigelman has dedicated her career to the New York City Department of Education. Currently the principal of Middle School 322, she has served as a tenured teacher and administrator at several learning institutions across the city. She uses her talents in strategic planning, mentoring, budgeting, and special event coordination to assist students and faculty. Additionally, she has acquired numerous grants for her schools to improve their technology, social services, and scientific offerings. In her current position as a principal, Erica Zigelman earned Middle School 322 credit as a First Amendment School from the First Amendment Center in Washington, D.C. She also created a think tank consisting of middle schools throughout the region and introduced professional development action plans to better her staff’s teaching skills.
In recognition of her accomplishments, Ms. Zigelman has received numerous accolades. The Wallace Foundation selected her as one of 17 administrators across the nation to appear at its Exemplary Principals Meeting in 2012. Two years earlier, she was chosen as a Cohort Cahn Fellow for Distinguished Principals. Recently, she placed as a semi-finalist for the Third Annual Elizabeth Rothay Prize for Schools Where Teaching Matters.
Erica Zigelman holds a master of arts in education from New York University.
